Subject: New MT SFW logo for use (for now) + odds and ends
Importance: High
Hello All,
Some pertinent info about the newly formed MONTANA Sportsmen for Fish and Wildlife (and I have a few new faces on this email that need to take a look)!
Attached is the new logo (for now), and will be up for discussion as I assume it will be edited/tweaked a bit at a later date, but we can use this in the mean time on correspondence or anything you send out etc., via e-mail or quick co;y/past letterhead, whatever. We need a skilled graphic artist (or one more skilled than me!) Pro-bono of course! :-)
(go to LINKS page to see logo)
Please start directing potential members to the mtsfw@hotmail.com email address w/ their name, address, working phone, and preferred email address. I will respond to each one individually about membership and information as time permits. Dues will be somewhere between $35 or $45 (we'll discuss at the next meeting) annually for a new member. John Rice has already pumped in a couple hundred bucks of his own dough as we all will before it's said and done for a charter and established chapter, so keep receipts and track of what you personally spend on MT SFW in our efforts. You will be reimbursed (within reason and w/ legit proof) and/or have dues credited once we are up and running with some structure and some cash flow.
John Rice also secured the tax ID # and is working on the Not-for-Profit status - additionally we will soon have a PO Box for all mailings (this week or next) thanks to John again. He is truly a "Doer" and not on the sidelines anymore...
We'll be using John's Biz Office - Grizzly Fence - at 1900 W. Sussex as our official headquarters (subject to change of course) for the meantime for MT SFW. I will work on the bank account this week so we may start accepting dues very soon. I am looking at March 18-20 for a larger 2 hour meeting somewhere (Casey???) to accommodate around 12-15 people or basically Executive Level members or those interested in serving on an interim basis. Probably after work so we can get a few more folks there and take our time to discuss some things. Check your calendars and let me know of your interest level in being a charter member and/or possibly on the Executive Committee. Toby, Casey, John and I are already in for this in the interim until we can adopt By-laws and elect leadership. OR if you want to bring a "Do'er" to this next meeting let me know. You can email me individually or ring me to discuss.
We also have a copy of the Wyoming By-laws in hand (and maybe Don P. could shoot us something from UT?) (Thanks Vonnie for that!) and will continue to build MT SFW Bylaws off of those. No sense in reinventing the wheel, but again, will have much discussion and tweaking to fit our immediate needs in Montana.
Toby,
Take the mslarugby/hotmail address off lobo watch email list please add the mtsfw@hotmail.com instead for all correspondence from Lobo watch. I can save all the great replies that the Lobo Watch members diligently research. Tons of great facts etc and I will save virtually all of those replies. Putting that email link at Lobo watch.com would now be appropriate if you wouldn't mind helping push potential members this way so I may gather their info. Once we have a fledgling web-site, we'll do some search engine optimization on Google and Yahoo for that to attract new members w/ key words etc. Maybe Vonnie could ADD this email to Wyo's website too somewhere??? Thanks Vonnie!!
Time to start networking and let fellow Montanans know this is going to be a reality and a force to be reckoned with. Get the word out about the email address for now or forward this email on.
Keep up the effort; we are almost there and already making a difference to manage ALL predators and conserve wildlife and habitat in Montana. God knows the lawmakers, MT FWS, and apathetic Politicians seem to have forgotten how. Montana Sportsmen will now HELP them remember again what our heritage means to us and that it will not be easily stripped away while we still exist.
Regards,
Bill
